Possibilities.. Not Limitations!
A tag line simply meant to be
catchy? 1 think not. Albina Com
munity Bank has continued to
thrive in NE Portland primarily
because that is our motto, creed
and mission.
Everyone involved in some way
with this community bank real
izes that they are working to cre
ate a sustainable community. By
continually being involved in
positive changes occurring in N
NE Portland. Albina Community
Bank is enabling entrepreneurs
and homebuyers to interact and
create affordable redevelopment.
This is a group that has held
this vision since the creation of
AlbinaCommunity Bank in 1995.
We have an excellent board and
many of our minority board mem
bers have known the strength of
possibilities. Through their
strength as community activists,
we are able to facilitate many
projects, increasing the livability
ofN/NE Portland.
Avel Gordly, our state sena
tor; Bernie Foster, publisher of
The Skanner; Paul Marshall and
Jeana Woolley, consultants; and
Sheila Holden, a special projects
manager for Pacific Power and a
chair of the NE Portland Commu
nity Development Alliance, all
challenge you to be involved in
the growth o f wealth in our com
munity.
Whether it is financial wealth,
neighborly wealth, or the wealth
o f your individual spirit, we
would like to see your involve
ment. As an individual; parent,
grandparent, student, child, in
vestor, or as part o f a community
group, whether it be a church,
non-profit, fraternal organization,
booster or co-op — by investing
at Albina Community Bank you
are investing in the growth of
your neighborhood - our com
munity.
Eighty nine percent of our de
posits are invested in loans to
our community. The Renaissance
M arket, Standard D airy and
Biltmore Hotel are just a few of
the wonderful partnerships we
have been involved in. In four
short years, we have made over
$65 million in loans to Northeast
Portland residents.
Albina Community Bank has
also continued to increase our
level of service available to you.
In addition to the traditional sav
ings, personal and b usiness
checking, money market, IRAs,
and certificate o f deposit ac-
counts, we are also able to pro
vide home equity loans and lines,
consumer loans, VISA credit and
debit cards, real estate and com
mercial loans and lines o f credit,
and credit card merchant services.
Soon we hope to offer Internet
access banking and additional
branches.
Our agreement with American
State Bank will offer more possi
bilities for our community. A sa
43% minority owned bank, we will
continue to emphasize our desire
to serve N/NE Portland. By living
here and making our decisions
here, we are able to be an advo
cate for the customer and offer
our expertise.
We have two programs avail
able now that enable us to be
come a more active contributor to
small businesses and first-time
homebuyers. Commercially, the
Fresh Start R evolving Loan
Fund™, developed with the sup
port of the Oregon Economic and
Community Development Depart
ment, is targeted towards small
businesses with a significant fo
cus on minority and women-
owned businesses.
The underwriting criteria is
much more flexible than tradi
tional underwriting, and our loan
officers are willing to
provide assistance
to any business or in
dividual to help them
understand the loan
process and develop
a long term financial
strategy. In our resi
dential lending de
partm ent we have
partnered with the
Federal Home Loan
Bank o f Seattle to
provide first time
homebuyers with a
forgivable down pay
ment grant program
called Home Start.
Through this grant
homebuyers can re
ceive up to $5000.00
tow ards the p u r
chase of their home.
