Beloved Family member passes on
The Life o f Bari Ann Jones
Bari Ann Jones was bom March 18,1957 in Freeport Texas. At
the ages o f 10 Bari Ann gave her li fe to Christ. She was baptized
at True Honor Missionary Baptist in Clute Texas, Pastor
Anderson. She attends Lanier Elementary, Freeport, Texas;
T. W Ogg Elementary School in Clute Texas.
In 1969 the Jones family moved to Portland Oregon where she
joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor A. Bernard
Devers. In later years, Bari moved her membership to Berean
Baptist Church, Pastor Nathan C. Barnett, Ptld,OR. and served
as a faithful and devoted member until he resigned and then
under the leadership o f Pastor Emmett Wheatfall. Where she
served as a devoted member on the Usher Board; Planning
Participant for the Berean 2000 Reunion; Vocational Bible
SchoolTeacher and other auxiliaries.
She attend Martin Luther King Elemental' ard J.V. Beach
Elementary, upon graduating from James Monroe High School
in 1975 with honors. Then she continued her education at
Portland State University majoring in Business Administration.
Bari Ann Jones worked for Meier & Frank and stated working
for the City o f Portland at the age o f fifteen afterschool in the
OfficeoftheCity/County JusticeCoordination& Planning. She
worked at various bureaus over the years until being hired by
Mayor Connie McCready in 1979. From 1980 until 1985, she
worked for Mayor Frank Ivancie. She temporarily work for
Mayor Bud Clark before going to work for Commissioner Jim
Francesconi as the Commissioner Assistant until 1999 upon
retiring.

Jones JR.; stepfather); deceased father James Walker JR., o f
Waco Texas: two sisters Brigitte Kaye Jones-Steward and
Kimberly Deneen Jones, of Portland, OR; one niece Brandy
Rawshea Jones, two nephews Brandon Marquise Jones,
Christopher Branch Jones, o f Portland Or; Grandmother Alice
Mea Robinson, Clute Texas; Uncle Branch Robinson 111 (Ruby

Pastor John P. Keeand the Portland Foursquare Church

Terrell consistently shown his appreciation and
commitment to Portland, by sponsoring several events
within the inner-city, such as his Free Basketball
Camps held annually at Irving Park. This is in addition
to his barber shop and clothing store which sits as a
beckoning som ething that would also benefits
Portland’s church community on the comer o f 14th
and Alberta. Recently, Terrell envisioned doing
something that would also benefits Portland’s church
community and his vision will become reality when 1 ee

This will be a history-making event in Portland, and
perhaps the Northwest. A two night gospel music
extravaganza featuring first, the Legendary 9 time
Grammy Award Winning First Lady ot Gospel,
Evangelist Shirley Caesar and the Caesar Singers in a
live performance, on Friday night June 23rd at the
Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall located at SW Main at
Broadway in Downtown Portland. Tickets are only
$25.00 in advance and $28.50 at the door.

insists that the conference is a way
for God to receive glory, not her.
As she finalized plans for the
conference, she w atched her 8-
month-old daughter play with toys
and simultaneously answered the
questions o f her husband, to whom
she has been married for three years.
