The Good in the Hood Multicultural
Music and Food Festival is a three-
day event taking place in North
Portland, on the campus o f the Holy
R edeem er A rea School at N.
Portland Blvd. and Vancouver
Ave. on June 23, 24 and 25.
It is a production o f the Good in
the Hood Community Outreach
Project, a non-profit organization
run totally by volunteers who seek
to present the positive aspects of
the N/NE Portland neighborhoods.
T his Festival show cases the
culturally rich resources inherent
in the area.
It also educates and bui Ids bridges
with the greater metropolitan area.
Good in the Hood strengthens
cultural self-identity, presenting a
stage for all groups to explore.

Last year’s attendance increased by
more than 20% to more than 6,000
attendees. KGW-TV has partnered
with US WEST to be the media
sponsors.

The Yardhouse Beer Garden is now
open at McMenamins Grand Lodge

The Yardhouse adds new dimension
to the historic grounds o f the Grand
Lodge. The in tim ate pub and
outdoor beer garden is located on
the property’s front meadow, across
from the Children’s Cottage, and
serves a full menu o f tasty pub fare,
featuring Hammerhead rigs, Jose
Cuervo Burritos, white bean and
green chile chili, jerk chicken
san d w ich es and m ore. E njoy
M cM enamins handcrafted ales,
wines and cocktails with your lunch
or dinner.
Indoors the Yardhouse seats 32
patrons at tables and bar, surrounded
by expansive windows under a
ceiling o f open rafters. A fireplace
with gilded oak mantle and Count
Rumford firebox design is situated
to warm the cozy space on cold
days.
Outdoors, the Yardhouse expands
to seat over 200 people, including a
space designated for private events.
