the new century it has been extend
through March 26,2000. Tickets are
currently on sale at all Ticketmaster
Over the past year, 50,000 “students”
have attended Sister’s Late Nite
Catechism class in Portland, and,
thanks to Sister’s gentle prodding,
have contributed more than $48,000
to the Sisters o f the Holy Names o f
Jesus and M ary at M arylhurst
College, Lake Oswego, Oregon.

The current performance schedule
for Late N ite Catechism is Thursday,
Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00
p.m. and a Sunday matinee at 2:00
p.m., at Main Street Theater, 904 SW
Main Street at Park Avenue, Portland,
Oregon. Local actress, Tina Paradiso,
continues to wear “the Habit” in the
role o f “Sister.”
Sunday, January 23, at 3:00 p.m.. Rose City Park United
Methodist Church will present the Miles Ahead in concert.
This concert is the sixth o f twelve concerts in the 1999-2000
concert season.
Miles Ahead showcases original jazz and timeless covers.
The blend is smooth and sweet featuring fun, enjoyable
music for the whole family. The group has performed in a
variety o f venues including Davinci Days Jazz Festival,
Nike World Masters Games, Portland Historical Society.
They opened forOlu Dara, appeared on Good Day Oregon
and K.MHD. Their program will cover Latins, fusion.
ballads, swing blues, funk and contemporary jazz

Admission to the concert is a free will offering taken at
intermission with net proceeds to benefit two local agencies,
FISH and Loaves & Fishes.

A memorial service will be held at the
Mallory Avenue Church o f Christ,
3908 NE Mallory Avenue. Portland,
Oregon, for Joseph Doyle who died
D ecem ber 30'h at the V eteran ’s
Hospital in Portland at the age o f 72.
Service wi 11 be held Tuesday, January
4,2000at 11:00 am.
Mr. Doyle, the sixth o f six children,
was b orn Jan u ary 24, 1927 in
M em phis, Tennessee to the late
Thomas H. Doyle, Sr. and Vallie E
Johnson Doyle. He becomes a
Christian and member o f the Church
o f Christ in his early youth.
Joe attended the city schools o f
M emphis, after graduating from
Manassas High he moved to Oakland,
California, living and working therea
number o f years.
He moved to Portland, Oregon where
he was married to Susan Reiss. To
this union two daughters were bom.
Mr. Doyle was a member o f the
famous Ink Spots singing group. The
Mallory Avenue Church o f Christ
and his Alumni Association. He
worked as a painter, an auto body and
fender man, a bar tender, and a funeral
attendant. He unsuccessfully ran for
Mayor o f Portland, Oregon.
He married Diana Foulke in 1984 who
preceded him in death.
Joseph’s brother and sisters dearly
loved and spoiled him.
He was the brother to the late Bonhoma

Joseph departed this life Thursday
30lh, 1999. Farewell dear loved one,
sleep on and on and on. Thecremains
will be interred in the family plot in
Oakland, California.
