The Second Annual African Americans On Wheels Golden Wheel Awards Honda Builds Plant in South Carolina A m erican H o n d a M otor C om pany will construct a $30 million manufacturing plant in T im m o n sv ille , S .C . T he new plant marks H onda’s 1 Oth autom o tive p la n t in N o rth America. It will pro duce four-wheel all-ter rain vehicles beginning in f a ll 1 9 9 8 . A t full p ro d u ctio n , the 175,000-square-foot facility will employ 600 workers and produce a maximum o f 100,000 units annually. Produc tion will include frame m anufacturing, weld ing, painting, plastic molding and assembly. Gordon Parks a rt on display a t the Corcoran Gallery o f A rt. Ford Sponsors Works of Photojournalist Renowned African-American photographer, G ordon Parks, recently unveiled his latest ex hibit titled, H all Past A utum n, at the Corcoran art gallery in W ashington, D.C. Sponsored in part by Ford M otor Com pany, the exhibition features some 220 p hoto graphs. It includes significant works from each o f Parks’ major series from 1940 through 1997, including several galleries o f color photographs and portraits, combined with his books, music, film and poetry. 1 he 84-year-old photojournalist was joined at the event by Ford vice president Elliot Hall, local students and art enthusiasts.
