I he Children ofC olor Storybook Bible highlights 61 favorite Bible stories with richly, illustrated char acters o f A frican descent such as Zipporah, The Q ueen o f Sheba and others. Readers w ill enjoy seeing G od's first hum ans—Adam and Eve- and the birth o f C hrist as charac ters with their sam e skin color. C Charles Jordan, Portland's Director o f Parks and Recreation City Official To Help Celebrate Anniversary North Portland BibleCollegehas invited Charles Jordan, Portland's Director o f Parks and Recreation, to be its main speaker at their annual banquet on Friday, November 7, "Cel ebrating 15 Years o fG o d ’s G race.” Jordan, a former City Com m is sioner, is a high-profile Christian layman, known for the integrity and competence with which he fulfills his civic responsibilities, as well as hisactiveparticipation in hischurch. Until recently, he served as Steward o f Bethel AME Church, its leading lay position, and is a regular adult Sunday School teacher. This banquet marks a significant milestone in NPBC’s history. It cel ebrates 15 years o f providing af fordable college-level Bible training for adults who previously have had to by-pass expensive formal educa tion. It celebrates students who have taken the evening classes in addi tion to family and employment and Rev. Born on O cto b er 8, 1941 in G reen v ille, South C aro lin a, R ev e re n d Jackson a tte n d e d the U n i v e rsity o f Illin o is from 1960-61, then tran sferred to N orth C a ro lin a A T & T S ta te U n iv e rs ity , w here he rec e iv e d his B.A. in 1964. He attended the C hicago T heo logical Sem inary until he jo in e d the civil rig h ts m ovem ent fu ll tim e in 1966 under Dr. M artin L u th er K ing Jr R everend Jack- son has been m a rrie d to the form er Jacqueline L avinia Brown since 1963. Brown, N P B C ’s newly appointed interim President I he college is honored to accept his offer to serve in this capacity, even though he is officially retired after a distin guished career in the pastorate and in academ ic pursuits.
