As we approached our State Capital "ah, a beauty to behold," nature at it’s best The Pioneer Man statue perched on top o f the building beckoned a welcoming attitude, of fering his gracious gift of the most beautiful fall foliage, brilliant pallets of fall colors, burgundy, red, gold, yellow, orange with rows o f trees which formed the rolling court gla cier of green grass lay beautifully before the Rotunda, making way for the water fountains and sculptured court, a sight to behold. Absurdly, the hidden ghost of Albany’s air sudden ly made me pay attention, along the way the homesites, little old red barns painted a lovely picture. Bravely I ventured out to find Co lumbia Hall Chemistry class of 300 students. As I joined Cobi, Professor Bames handed me a chem istry quiz with a welcome smile, luckily the bell rang advancing me to the liter ature writing class with discussions on "Capitalist Kills Cul tures” to “Economics Worth Waiting On or Keeping an Eye on.” Tennis shoes, boots, Birken- stocks, denims, sweats, flannel and woolen plaids were the uniforms most commonly seen. Taking time out at the end of the day-napping through Tom Cruise’s A Few Good Men, the entire U of O ’s basketball team paid an unexpected visit, awaken to find Andre, Jamal, Tanar, Brain and Johnathan’s smiling faces, height galore. Saturday, the science library re search project was less exciting than the loss of U o f O ’s football game to Arizona State, sad faces lead to gear ing up to the famous U of O ’s parties. Sunday brunch was delightful as President Dave Fhrommeyer, former attorney general o f Oregon, joined me in the long buffet line at Willamette Hall - an inter-disciplin ary concept combining physics, chemistry and biology, commonly known as the train station due to the architectural structure. Fhronmeyer stated the Univer sity’s fiscal budget was halfa billion dollars with 17,000 plus students. His daughter Katy about 4 feet tall, 8 years old looked up admiring my Halloween sweater and asked, “Do you think O.J. is guilty or innocent? I think he did it.” I didn’t respond.
