In a game that could have been a
win, that should have been a win,
albeit come from behind. The Port
land State Vikings let penalties and
turnovers be their undoing and let
this one slip away.

Kingsville was in trouble in the fourth
quarter but had enough defense to
hold onto a 16-21 win in Kingsville.
This six year rivalry has been
built up to be one o f the premiere
competitions is NCAA Division II.

II teams in the country played here

a chance to prove it.”

Oregon football fans about the possi
ble perils involved in purchasing trip
packages and game tickets to attend
the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, C alifor
nia on January 2.
“We all are excited and proud
that the University o f Oregon is play
ing in the Rose Bowl.” Kulongoski
said. “But in our excitement, we can't
let our emotions get the better o f us.
Travel packages including sales o f
game tickets need to be thoroughly
researched to ensure that tour opera
tors and merchants will be able to
deliver promised services.”
Fans should expect to receive
numerous offers for Rose Bowl trav-
el packages over the phone, through
the mail and in advertisements in the
media, Kulongoski said. W hile most
o f these offers are legitimate, some
are fraudulent operations with nei
ther the intent or ability to make
necessary travel arrangements.

in 5 yard touchdown pass to Kyle
Holley. Crowell added the conver

But by now time had run out and
there was only 42 seconds remaining
in the game. They tried an onside
sidekick but it failed and with it came
an end to Portland State U niversity’s
94 football season.

PRO SOCCER IS COMING BACK TO PORTLAND
The Portland Firebirds profes
sional m en’s outdoor soccer club will
begin play in Portland in April 1995.
The Firebirds are a m ember o f the
United States Interregional Soccer
League, a nationwide league with 72
teams, which is comparable in qual
ity to AAA Baseball. The teams in
the northwest division o f the USISL
should include T acom a, Salem ,
Yakima, Portland and possibly other
clubs.
Soccer is growing in popularity
in the United States as evidenced by
the recent W orld Cup and is a sport
that exemplifies agility and grace
rather than size and strength. The
Firebirds” players will be ambassa
dors for Portland, for soccer, for the
club and will be role models for
young people.
The Portland Firebirds are com
mitted to excellence in promoting
quality fami ly entertainment and seek
to develop a long term relationship
with the community. The team will
be a community soccer resource and
will give the region’s best players a
chance to begin their professional
