The proposed Program of Projects in this application: The hearing would have been held for the purpose of considering agran t application requesting capital assistance from the Federal Transit Administration. Project The project under consideration is the Banfield Light Rail Comm unications Retrofit project. This project will make im provements in the communication and control com po nents of the existing MAX system to make them compatible with the new Westside line. Partial funding for this project was approved by FTA on April 7, 1994. Tri-Met proposes in this grant application to seek FY95 fixed guideway m oderniza tion form ula funds of $894,947 federal ($1,118,684 total) for continuation of the project. Most of the 20 minibuses purchased with grant funds would support expanded transportation for the elderly and disabled. Design of a pedestrian and bicycle bridge connected to the future Sunset Transit Center of the W estside Light Rail Project would be initiated with the funds noted above.
