As one SCDC Board member so aptly suggests, “ W o u ld n ’ t we prefer o r re fin d there are few tangible resources available to serve their im m ediate housing need. Due to lack o f drug- free housing, most w om en in this targeted group is forced back into the same environm ent that contributed to their p rio r situations. The Salvation A rm y ’ s 1993 Coats fo r K id s drive raised hundreds o f coats ju s t in tim e to get them to children w ho need them m ost before the weather turns colder. Needy ch ild re n picked out their donated coats this past T uesday, N ovem ber 9 at The S alvation A rm y M oore Street Center, 5335 N . W illia m s A ve ., Portland. The dry cleaners delivered more than 2,000 donated coats to this event.
