Benson, Wilson Look Ahead To Showdown BY JOHN PHILLIPS The Benson Techmen and the Wilson Trojans are the only undefeated foot ball team in the Portland Interscho lastic League. Wilson had a hard way to go Friday night at Madison, as the Senators also came in this big game with no defeats. The home crowd was even bigger because it was homecoming night for the Senators. It ended up being a nightm are in the end. Quarterback Jamie Thorpe scored on a one yard run after a scoreless first half by both teams. That made it 7-0, W ilson. Madison came right back on a Robert Cavil 10 run, but the “Pat” was missed and the Trojans lead was one, at 7-6. Wilson then scored again, this time, Jake Lancaster ran it in from three yards out. But Wilson also missed the “Pat” for 13-6 lead. Sam Siel, who had 65 yards on 12 carries, scored for the Senators on a 4 yard run. Madison went for the two- point conversion that failed, and W il son stayed atop the P.I.L. tied with Benson. Benson had a little easier time in their game with Roosevelt. The Rough ff 1 Sam Peoples, PSU defensive back, tackles North Alabama s top running back Tyrone Rush. North Alabama beat PSU 44-32. Next up for PSU is Eastern Washington at Cheney, 1:05 Saturday. Riders are a lot better than their 0-4 would show. Roosevelt jumped out to a 12-0 lead on a pair o f touchdown runs by Greg Diehl, o f one and three yards. Tech then scored 32 big points before Roosevelt could score again. Desmond Faison ran for one T.D. and threw 45 yards to Tauheed Jermany for an other. Benson also had touchdowns scored by Patrick Johnson, a 53 yard run, and Chris Beene’s44 yard score. Jon Miller caught a 5 yard pass for Roosevelt’s final score. Again it was powerful running back Dimion Martindale who scored three touchdowns and ran for 226 yards on 27 carries, in a 36-26 win over Jefferson. M artindale’s scores came on runs of 62,11, and 6 yards. He also ran for a big two-point conversion. Jefferson’s 26 points came on Tho mas Jacob’s runs of 15 and 55 yards, a lo n g w ith a fum ble retu rn by Jochannan Lowe of 60 yards. And Leroy Brandon had a 65 yard punt return for a touchdown. Robby Buen threw for two scores to Noel Patterson of 29 and 18 yards for the M inutem an oh their hom e field. G rant scored with ease on the way to a 23-6 win over C leveland.K eis Braucham p passed for tw o touch dow ns, the first going to Eric Moten for 49 yards. The o ther to Rico W addell for 57 big yards. W addell then scored on a 10 yard run to close out the scoring for the Generals. Cleveland’s lone score came on a one yard run by Tim Ostrem. Franklin stayed only one game o ff the pace, with a 50-22 drilling o f Lin coln. Running back Derrick Brame had a very big night with three touch downs on runs o f 3 ,9 , and 18 yards. Matt Geske also got into the act with two T D ’s o f his own. On runs o f one and six yards. Geske also passed for two scores to Tyler W hite for 19 yards, and 20 yards to Mike Meyer. Lincoln got on the board with a pass from Daniel Ross to David King. Then female kicker Joy Lawrence made the point after touchdow n, Good.
