A t the tender age o f 14, Tabari
started ig n itin g audiences in a
professional way when he took to
the stage the R &B sounds o f Luther
Vandross, his “ favorite male vocal
ist.” Because o f his strong vocal
resemblance to Luth er Vandross,
Tabari is referred to by his fans as
“ L il L u ” When he joined The Royal
Court Band, the most popular band
in his home town; he quickly gained
lead singer status. T abari along
w ith the band opened concerts for
Run D .M .C., K e ith Sweat, Melissa
M organ, and Levert. Tabari was
also featured on the band’ s twelve
inch single entitled “ Tears.” Other
accomplishments to date are, ACTSO
1989, Tw o-tim e W in ne r o f Port
land’ s N ight at the A pollo 1990-91,

shared a few “ very im pressive”
impromptu moments on stage w ith
n a tio n a lly know n a rtis t Chante
Moore in concert w ith Portrait June
30, 1993.
Presently. Tabari is spending
much o f his time in the recording
studio preparing demo material, as
well as lending v ocal support to other
artists' music projects. W hile per
form ing locally, he has rapidly gained
much recognition and respect in the
Northwest area as a m ulti-talented
artist; in the two years that he has
lived in Portland. Since then, he has
been widely recognized as one o f
“ Portland's most prom ising male
vocal artists.”
Tabari's goal is to release his
first single this year. He also aspires
to land a recording contract w ith a
major recording label. Hopefully his
attendance at “ The Black Music Expo”
w ill make his dream come true
