Drinking Water For Flood Victims
T u o tanker trucks, each capable

aid that the w ater purification com
pany is providing to Iow a’s capital
city, w here dam age to a w ater treat
m ent plant has left 250.0(H) people
w ithout drinking water
T he tanker trucks will be used to
transport water to Des M oines from
nearby m unicipalities "Initially, the
trucks will be there for tw o weeks, but
we may extend that, depending on the
need,” said Terry Hatfield, m anufac

w ho has been coordinating relief ef
forts w ith the Iowa N ational G uard

T he reverse osmosis (RO) sy stem
uses hydraulic pressures to force wa
ter through a sem iperm eable mem
brane to rem ove contam inants. The
skid-m ounted unit will continually
take in river or brackish w ater and
pum p out up to five gallons o f d rin k
ing wate per minute.
