staged, presentation featured choirs,
soloist, actors and actresses from a
variety of churches and from a variety
of races.
This year’s theme: “The Black
Family And The Black Church opened
to the sound of a native Nigerian, John
Uwagbae, singing the national anthem
to his country, Africa, and this was
followed by the singing of the Negro
National Anthem which was rendered
by the talented a capella voices of “His
Song”.
The blending of voices, instru
ments, Afrikan Dancers, Afrocentric
theatre, and informative narration done
by Georgine Rice, were all fused to
gether to bring about a most enjoyable,
entertaining and inspirational evening.
Waverly L. Davis, President, and
Dennis Payne, Sr., Vice President,
jointly open their hearts in thanking the
community for their support and their
attendance.
“Next year, we hope to be bigger
and better”, says Waverly Davis. “We
need to unify the Christian communi
ties throughout the Portland Metro
politan area. The AAF Gospel Jubilee
has become a great blessing 1 rom God.”
But, an improvement on this year’s
performance will be a hard task.
