Sealed proposals for the Ship Repair Yard, Custodial Services,
will be received by the Purchasing Manager of the Port of
Portland, 700 N.E. Multnomah Street, Portland, Oregon (mailing
address: P.O. Box 3529, Portland, Oregon, 97208) until, but not
after, 5:00 p.m., April 6, 1992.
A briefing conference will be held on March 23, 1992, at 10:00
a.m., at the Ship Repair Yard, 5555 N. Channel Avenue, Building
50, Portland, Oregon. A walk-through guided tour will follow the
briefing. This is the only opportunity for proposers to have a
guided tour of the facilities and to discuss all phases of the work,
participation is encouraged. This briefing and tour is important in
order to familiarize yourselves with these services. A sign-up
sheet will be made available.
Specifications, drawings, and other contractor documents will be
available at the briefing conference.

Request for Proposals
The Metropolitan Service District (Metro) is requesting Proposals
from firms or teams of firms to conduct a remote-sensing project.
The objective of this project is to utilize satellite imagery, to
develop and expand existing GIS databases and develop change
detection methodologies for regional planning analysis. Propos
als must be delivered to the Planning Department, 4th floor,
Metropolitan Service District, 2000 S.W. First Ave., Portland, OR
97201-5398, to the attention of Patrick Lee, no later than 4:30
p.m. (PST) on Friday, April 3, 1992. Proposals will not be
considered if submitted after the deadline. Postmarks are n fll
acceptable.
Potential respondents may obtain a copy of the Request for
Proposals by contacting Patrick Lee at (503) 221-1646. All
questions relating to this RFP or the project must be submitted in
writing to Patrick Lee, who will determine if a written response or
RFP amendment to all parties receiving a copy of this RFP is
required. All questions must be received by March 26, 1992.
Metro may reject any Proposals not in compliance with all
specifications listed in the Request for Proposals and may reject
for good cause any or all statements upon a finding by Metro that
it is in the public interest to do so.
All proposals must be on the regular blank forms included in the
contract documents. Only proposers as determined by the
Selection Committee will be considered for award of these
services.

Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program
Supportive Services
The Oregon Department of Transportation is seeking proposals
from qualified consultants to provide supportive services to
certified Disadvantaged Business Enterprises in the areas of
construction project management, contract administration, engi
neering, legal and financial services. The successful consultant
must have significant knowledge and experience related to the
highway construction industry, and the expertise and/or access
to resources to provide a comprehensive one-stop service
center, orientation seminars, training classes, one-on-one tech
nical assistance, pre-bid conferences and public relations ser
vices to DBEs.
Copies of the Request for Proposals (RFP) may be obtained from

14 years old.

lift-equipped, alternative fuel (natural gas) buses as replacement
vehicles to modernize its fleet. Vehicles will meet all applicable
Federal and State emission, noise, and Americans with Disabili
ties regulations. A portion of this budget will be used for deliveries,
spare parts, vehicle markings and application, on-site inspection,
radio equipment, and contingencies.
N. T ra n sit Mall E xtension, C o n s tru c tio n - Tri-Met, in conjunc
tion with the Portland Development Commission and the City of
Portland, proposes to extend the Transit Mall north from West
Burnside Street to Union Station. The project would reconstruct
sixteen blocks on N.W. Fifth and Sixth Avenues, between, and
including, West Burnside and N.W. Irving Streets.
On the affected streets (except N.W. Irving between N.W. Sixth
and Broadway) the sidewalks would be widened and the road
ways narrowed. The right-hand travel lane would be reserved for
transit vehicles only, and the left lane would be for buses and
general traffic. On-street parking would be eliminated. Transit
amenities would be provided, including one passenger shelter per
block, benches and street trees. Materials and finishes would
closely resemble the existing Transit Mall.
No persons, families or businesses will be displaced by these
projects.
These projects are in conformance with comprehensive land use
and transportation planning in the area and will be programmed
in the Transportation Improvement Program.
A statement of Tri-Met's charter bus service i« -vailable for
inspection at the Tri-Met Administration offices.
Tri-Met will not be engaging in school business operations.

This funding supplements existing funds for an Alternatives
Analysis/Draft Environmental Impact Analysis in the Hilllsboro
Corridor from SW 185th Avenue to the Hilllsboro Transit Center.
This Project will determine what mode of transit would best
service the Hilllsboro transit market and connect to the W estside
light rail. Alternatives being considered include expanded bus
service or extending the light rail line.
