Electrical Inspector
I he Port of Portland has a challenging opportunity available for
an Electrical Inspector working in its Construction Engineering
Group on heavy industrial and commercial type facilities.
Your responsibilities will involve performing on-site electrical
inspections of naw facility construction and the rebuilding of
existing facilities according to code, Port specifications and
contract terms. Facilities include high voltage, secondary voltages,
control and signal wiring for airport and marine facility equipment.
You will work with Port design staff, consultants, contractors, and
building code authorities in helping to assure that the Port main­
tains high standards of electrical work, as well as obtain the quality
workmanship and products specified.
To qualify you must have had at least two years'
experience as a General Supervising Electrician, a currently valid
Oregon General Supervisor Electrician's license and agree to
become certified by the state as Electrical Inspector A-level within
six months of hire. (Information regarding Oregon licensing
procedures is available for out-of-state applicants). Substantial ex­
perience in commercial and industrial building construction
methods, industrial electrical equipment and high voltage installa­
tions is necessary. A valid driver's license is required.

Basically, the work consists of street improvements to implement a
pedestrian way on an existing unim proved street; the installation of fences
and lighting for pedestrian safety; various landscape elements and con­
struction of a 6,100 S.F. metal building for m aintenance activities with
adjoining parking facilities.
Interested bidders may obtain one set of bid docum ents from the HAP

deposit of $50. The deposit is refundable when docum ents are returned to
HAP in good condition within 10 days after bid opening. Additional sets may

dance of bidders is requested. Questions posed at that time, when not
addressed in the specifications, will be answered by addendum and mailed
to all bidders.
No bid will be considered unless accompanied by bid security in the
form of certified check, cashier’s check, or surety bond payable to the
Housing Authority of Portland in an amount equal to 10% of the bid which
is to be forfeited as fixed and liquidated dam ages should bidder neglect or
refuse to enter into contract or provide a suitable bond for the faithful
perform ance of the work when bidder is notified of contract award.
A minim um of 20% MBE participation in the execution of this project
is a HAP requirement and the methods the bidder proposes in com pliance
with this requirem ent shall be submitted on a notarized "Certification of MBE
Participation" form which will become part of the bid.
No bidder may withdraw bid after the hour set for opening thereof until
after the lapse of sixty (60) days from the bid opening.
The Housing Authority of Portland may reject any bid not in com pliance
with the prescribed bidding procedures and requirements and may reject
any or all bids and waive all informalities if, in the judgm ent of HAP, it is in
