Air Academy Admission Represen tative, Portland Urgan League Of fice, announces the recent grauda- tion of three Portlanders from the Academy's 12 week Airline Reser vations and Airport Services Pro- gram. Graduates of the program are prepared for placement in the following positions: Reservation Sales Agent, Ticket and Gate Agents, Ramp and Station Agents, and Customer Service Agent. Bell, Ramp 1987 St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Food Drive St. Vincent de Paul is once again preparing for its annual Christmas Food Drive, the largest door to door food drive in the U.S. Last year, more than 5,000 volunteers distributed 332,000 pounds of food to feed 8,414 needy families. Contribution of non-perishable food will be collected by volunteers in Portland neighborhoods Saturdays, December 5 and 12. Food will be delivered to needy families Saturday, December 19. St. Vincent de Paul needs volunteers to help answer phones and sort and pack food. Turner, currently awaiting a Port land opening. An Active Parenting class is of fered at Emanuel Hospital & Health Center for parents of children ages 2 through 18. It is sponsored by the Child Development Department. Active Parenting is an innovative, video-based program designed to enhance child/parent relationships. In this six-part series of two-hour sessions, emphasis is focused on understanding child behavior, deve loping the child's sense of respon sibility and winning cooperation. The program helps parents make sense out of their child's behavior and gives concrete guidelines to put parenting plans into action. Family enrichment activities are stressed. Classes begin in September at Emanuel. To register, call the Com munity Health Education Depart ment at Emanuel, 280-4284. Fundraising Brunch Scheduled The St. Vincent de Paul International Champagne Brunch is scheduled for Sunday, October 18. All proceeds from the event will benefit St. Fran cis Dining Hall. This is the second year the Society of St. Vincent de Paul has spon sored the brunch, which this year will be held at the Veracruz Restaurant, 217 N.W. Second in Portland. This year's "South of the Border" brunch will feature traditional Spanish cuisine, accompanied by classical and fla menco guitar music. Tickets for the event are $25.00 per person, with seating at 10:30 a.m., noon and 1:00 p.m. A trip for two to Mazatlan, Mexico, will be raffled at the event. Girls and boys 11 years and older have an opportunity to learn how to plan for a babysit ting job, supervise children in an 8-hour Babysitting course. The classes will be held at the Red Cross Buiding, 3131 N. Vancouver Ave., on Saturdays, September 26 and October 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $15 per student. Scho larships are available.
