Admissions Coordinator at PCC Cascade Campus, welcomes 26 high school seniors of the Career Pathways Program. Freddye Webb-Petett, admini strator of Adult and Family Ser vices announced today, Connie D. Easter has been selected to manage their State Public Affairs Program. This will involve the Division's 48 Branches and 2100 employees. Ms. Easter was formerly Public Affairs Coordinator for the Housing Authority of Portland and Public In formation Officer to the Land Use and Transportation Department of Washington County while concur rently providing supplemental sup port to the Board of Commission ers. Portland Community College is offering two summer term seminars, "Advertising on a Small Budget", at the college's Ross Island and South east Centers. Instructor Patti DeWitz will discuss creative and inexpensive ways to ad vertise, publicize and plan an advertising strategy. DeWitz is a martketing specialist for the PCC Small Business Development Center and operates her own marketing consulting firm. The seminar will be offered from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, June 26, at PCC Southeast Center, 2850 S.E. 82nd Ave., and in two evening ses sions that start Wednesday, July 29, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Ross Island Center, 049 S.W. The students are participants in the Careers Pathways Program, which is a joint project between Portland State University, Port land Private Industry Council, and Portland Public Schools. "The aim of the program is to help disadvantaged high school seniors successfully gra duate from high school and gain entrance into college or obtain a full time job," said Nick Barnett, PCC Admissions Coordinator. The students toured Cascade Campus and were given briefings on several PCC programs, including Electronic Service Technology, Media Assistant, Library Assistant, Computer Field Service. They met the PCC students and staff and heard presentations on "The High School Transi tion", "W hat It Is Like To Be A College Student" and other topics. " it is very encouraging to see these young people taking their educa tion and future careers so seriously.
