As the hot August sun blazed upon the Portland area Saturday after
noon, the freshest rappers, scratchers and musicians assembled to deliver
custom versions of Rhythm and Blues in Hip Hop style
J W Fridays
brainchild, "Waterfront Fresh." kicked from 1 30 til 9 30 and, except for a
few technical problems, was an effective and educational showcase for
both professional and amateur entertainers
The spectators should be applauded, also, for braving the beat and add
ing the spark and energy needed to make the day a success
The afternoon started with Scratch Master H followed by E S R Crew,
Electro Wiz and Crew, and Cazel Then came the Mos' Del Crew, that is
actually a Hip Hop band entering the Portland music scene with a fresh new
style Mos' Def was followed by The Dynamic Sound Machine and D L B
b The Untouchable Rappers, who delivered a well rounded production
that led right into the Portland debut of Seattle's N Cognito N Cognito
displayed a high energy show of hard core funk I would really like to see
them play in a club atmosphere The night ended with the Street Music
Band who surprised me with an electrifying all new show From the first to
the last note our home boys gave it all they had, bringing Waterfront
Fresh II" to a dynamic close "The Dubbman" J .W Friday says he'll be
back with something else this fall, so keep it tuned to your community
media via KBOO and The Portland Observer

The group displayed the ultimate in showmanship and professionalism at
the Seattle event and wish to express their thanks to the community for
their support there and here at home
