L o ve's L ab o u r's Lost
This summer the Portland Actors Ensemble presents W illiam Shake
speare’s neglected comedy, "L o v e ’s Labour's L o s t," directed by Keith
Scales, in parks in and around Portland. "Love's Labour's Lost” is a
courtly comedy o f romance and wit. Four young lords lake vows to fo r
swear the company o f women and spend their lives in study; 'til four beau
tiful ladies from France come to pay a visit. . . .
Masques, dances, music, a host of colorful pedants, braggarts and rustics,
and a play-wilhin-a-play fill out the themes of love and deceit in a delight
fully comic entertainment that builds to a gently ironic Finale.
“ Love’s Labour’s Lost" will play this weekend at Washington Park
(Northwest o f fountain) on Saturday, August 27th and Sunday, August
28th, both days at 3 p.m.

Robert Ford, retired teacher who
was recently honored by his former
Elliot and Holiday School students
with a reunion, took an opportunity
to publicly thank those who present
ed and who attended the affair.
"T h e reunion was an event I shall
remember the remaining years of
my life. Although it is over, it seems
like a mythical dream and I am con
stantly asking myself, 'W hy me?,"
Ford told the Observer.
"These were very fine students in
so many ways which, I am sure, ac
counts for my success as one of their
teachers."
The committee really worked
hard to present the reunion and it
was very successful. Ford said. He
wishes to thank all of those who
honored him.
