HAPPENINGS Lives Through M usic Karen Howells, Northwest recording artist and professional singer, will bring the Washington Park Amphitheatre alive with song, dance and color, Sunday, August 21 at 8 p .m ., as she performs her original production of “ Reflections: A Look At Our Lives Through M u sic." This one woman show is Karen’s interpretation o f Broadway music as it relates to the univer sal need for fulfillm ent. Through this medium, Karen communicates her personal resolution to this search. Karen has sung throughout the Northwest and Canada, appearing in a variety o f concert settings and completed her first album in 1981. The concert is privately sponsored and offered to the public free of charge. The show will be interpreted for the hearing impaired. Terry Lomax, Portland mime artist, will provide unusual and enjoyable preshow entertainment. MRS. Wednesday, September 7, at the Neighbors o f W oodcraft on I4th and Morrison, W illie Dixon and the Chicago Blues All-Stars will bring you the best in blues. T o add to this festive occasion Geneva’s and Produce Row will be providing an array o f culturally mixed food and drink. W illie, a major catalyst between blues and rock, has had his songs re corded by the Rolling Stones, Muddy Waters, The Allm an Bros., Led Zepplin, Fleetwood M ac, Elvis Presley, The Doors, Mose Allison, and hundreds of others. His music has had a major influence on literally every major recording artist. W illie has recently founded Blues Heaven Foundation, an organization dedicated to the preservation o f blues heritage. W ith W illie, the Chicago Blues All-Stars, one o f America's finest blues bands, will bring back to Portland their blues energy that has packed many houses around Portland.
