Since bursting upon the scene like

Four o f Starpoint *s six members
are b ro th e rs — E rn es to , O rla n d o ,
Greg and George Phillips— who dis
covered th eir m u tu al passion fo r
music at an early age growing up in
Baltimore. As teenagers, they joined
Starpoint offers the perfect party

who brings to the band his wealth of
influences from living in such fa r-
flung locales as Barbados, Nigeria,
and M ichigan. W ith the joining o f
vocalist Renee Diggs, the lin e-u p

The six o f them formed a series o f
popular bands playing the Washing
ton-Baltim ore district. First known
as L y c in d ia n a when they started
performing in 1972, the group built
a follo w in g up and down the East
Coast, as well as doing assorted ses
sion work for M otow n and A ll Plat
inum Records. In 1978, the group
became S ta rp o in t, and w ith th eir
sharpened ensemble skills in hand,
signed w ith C asablan ca Records.
