The Portland Section o f the Na
tional Council o f Jewish Women, in
an independent study o f the M u lt
nomah County Juvenile C o u rt,
found that a “ disproportionately
h ig h" percentage o f m inority c h il
dren were committed to the Hillcrest
MacLaren Schools during five
months that court proceedings were
analyzed.
The study recommends that all
Juvenile Court personnel "examine
their attitudes about racial and eth
nic m inorities and develop proce
dures to guard against discrim ina
tion.”
