gave to com plim ent Bobbie
Nunn following her retirement after
26 years with the Portland School
District. Bobbie Jean was duly sur­
prised by the thoughtfulness o f her
friends who arranged cocktails and
dinner, but her hostesses were also
surprised that nearly a hundred peo­
ple heard about th e ir plans and
wanted to jo in in the evening’s fun
out at the Airtel.
So it was toast and roast and Bob­
bie w ithstood it w ell. Josiah, her
husband, toasted her g en tly. H e r
son, Joe, roasted her w ell, and in
turn H arriet A d a ir, an A .K .A . so-

her marriage to Tonkins, a resident

Bobbie’s 26 years were spent as a
classroom teacher, a cu rricu lu m
specialist a n d /o r desegregation spe­
cialist. “ The G ro u p ” has been to ­
gether for a number o f years in what
they call a “ casual, relaxed struc­
ture.” They meet if, as, where and
when they want to, but they get the
message across if they have to. The
Group gave Bobbie a heavily laden
money tree to take home.
The arrangements for this partic­
ular p arty were in the hands o f
Jeanne Hartzog. Other Group mem­
bers are: Verla Woods, Jerry W ard,
Velma Renfro, Cora Smith, Juretta
W ebb, P .N ., Freddye Pettet, Bev­

Voris Roberts were married on Oc­
tober 2nd at E m m anuel Tem ple
Church. The double ring ceremony

Wells and Elder Felton Warner.
The bride wore a white gown with
heart-shaped bodice, with train and
veil. The groom wore white tails,
and the bridal party was in black.
Matron of honor was Linda Miller;

H arris. Charles Bedford was best
man.
A reception at H o lid a y Inn fo l­
lowed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter o f M r.
and Mrs. Burdell Roberts. She pre­
sently attends M t. Hood Community
College where she studies computer
technology.
M r. Jackson attended M t. Hood
C om m unity College and Portland
State U n iversity. He is the son o f
Mrs. Elizabeth Jackson and the late
Edward Jackson.
