surety, in an amount equal to ten percent (10% ) of the total Bid, shall be
submitted with each bid.
Attention is called to the fact that the Contractor must ensure that em
ployees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against be
cause of their race, color, religion, sex or national origin and that the Con
tractor must comply with Federal regulations pertaining to the employment
of apprentices and trainees as set forth in the Contract Documents.
Bidder shall be certified as an EEO Affirm ative Action Employer as pre

ject any or all bids or to waive any informalities in the bidding.

Notice is hereby given that sealed bids will be received at the office of the
City Clerk, City of Kelso, up to 2:00 P .M . on the 23rd day of November,
1982 and immeidately thereafter the proposals will be publicly opened and
read. Contract of construction will be awarded within 30 calendar days after
the bid opening date.
When Bid Surety is required, proposais shall be accompanied by a certified
check, cashiers's check or a bid bond, payable to the City of Portland for an
amount not less than ten percent ( 10%) of the aggregate amount of the bid
as guaranty that the bid shall be irrevocable for the period specified in the
proposal. Said bond to be forfeited as fixed and liquidated damages should
the bidder seek to revoke his offer for any reason not authorized by law and
not consented to by City within the irrevocable period, or neglect or refuse
to enter into contract and provide a suitable bond for the faithful perform
ance of the contract, in the event the said contract is awarded to him.

1. Supply and install approximately 5150 LFT of 8 inch ductile iron
pipe, fire hydrants, house services and related work.
2. Supply and install approximately 500 ft. of 8 and 10 inch con
crete sanatary sewer, laterals and related work.
Drawings and specifications may be obtained at the office of the Kelso City
Engineering Department, 309 Oak Street, P.O. Box 209, Kelso, Washington
96626, upon payment of a $20 deposit. Full refund of deposits for the docu
ments will be made to general contractors submitting a Bidder's Proposal at
the time and date stated in the Contract Documents. A $10 refund will be
made to all other planholders upon return of the Contract Documents in
good condition within fifteen (15) days after bid opening.
All proposals must be submitted on the regular form furnished with the spe
cifications and each must be accompanied by a certified check or bidder's
bond made payable to the City of Kelso in an amount not less than five
percent (5 % ) of the total bid. A corporate surety bond in the full amount of
the contract award will be required to guarantee its faithful performance.
Wages; The bidders must be aware of the conditions of employment thai
must be complied with and the minimum wage rate requirements, state
and/or federal, whichever governs, that shall be paid under this contract.
The City of Kelso reserves the right to reject any or all bids, waive informali
ties or irregularities and to accept any bid for the project which appears to
serve the best interest of the City.
