PLEASURE Get on Your Mark The Vintage Restaurant Gene Diamond On Sunday, July 18, The Vintage Restaurant and Lounge will host a 12- hour Music Marathon from 2:00 p.m. to 2:00 a .m ., to benefit Q U A D , Inc., a unique Portland residence for quadriplegics. The gala benefit, featuring over a dozen top music groups from all over the N o rth w est, is designed to help provide funds fo r the quadriplegic facility, which is partially funded by government grants. Q U A D stands for Quadriplegics United Against Dependency. The goal o f the facility is to help quadriplegics regain a sense of independence so they can leave Q U A D to live on their own. Jackye Holmes, owner o f The Vintage Restaurant and Lounge, at 24th and SE Powell, is enthusiastic about the Marathon Music event. “ I love to see people enjoying the quality o f their lives, hearing good music, dancing, and having a great time. What better way to support the quality o f life for those whose physical movement is restricted,” said Holmes. “ We plan to star Gene Diamond, and the band, Aries (regulars at The Vintage) as well as Eddie Weed and the Sky Trio, all o f whom are eminent jazz musicians, and they’re all excited about the Q U A D benefit.” Dozens o f top performers will appear during the 12-hour benefit, be tween 2 in the afternoon and 2 a.m. Reservations are suggested for dinner. Tickets for the benefit are $10 per person, with proceeds going to Q U A D , Inc.
