nomic pressures imposed by the im
ports. Especially F o u r Seasons
Dodge out on 23th and Sandy. Its
owner, Dan Pistorese, says, ‘ ‘ W e’re
holding o ur own. In the last four
years, percentage-wise we’re outsell
ing Ford and Chevy.”
Pistorese is a native O regonian
who has been in the car dealership
business for years. ‘ ‘ You know we

wholesale parts department in the

service d ep artm en t w ith many o f
our mechanics who have been on
board for nearly 30 years. Our sales

Japanese can manufacturer a car for
a lot less because they pay their
workers a smaller wage. O u r fac
tories had their way until the com
petitors came on full force. But it
was our ingenuity and money that
pu, them in business.” Pistorese
says that we are so benevolent to
other countries we may need to turn
that around and help ourselves.
“ The flip side o f imports is that
they cost more to repair. American
cars were safer and if people were to
use preventive m aintenance we
w ouldn’t have all the trouble with
our own cars.”
