She resides in Portland with her

She is an active community worker

fers a certificate after one year and
an associate o f science degree upon
com pletion o f the tw o-year p ro

According to Benjamin, she is not
advocating that everyone in the
Black community take advantage of
the program but. ” 1 think there is a
need for Blacks to come in and look
at these services."
Human services, as she explained
it, ” . . .is a helping profession. And
the people who belong in any help
ing profession have to have the
m otivation and desire to help
others."
In addition, she said, “ They have
to be people who understand them
selves— know themselves— because
you can’ t give what you d o n 't
have."

Love is something we should all share
Hate is showing that love is not there.
Is it better to love or to be blessed?
Both is good, for the man has spoken from above.
Wisdom and peace are still in the hearts o f men
But to concern ourselves with others seems to be a cardinal sin.
We as members o f the Exodus Clean Team
Are trying to bring to reality things that were once only a dream.
Love they neighbors and thy self
Caring and sharing our community with everyone else.
Reaganomics is making us realize
That we need to share our love and resources in order to survive.
I w ill not take a stand whether it is right or wrong
For our government to make us stand on our own.
But with lose and understanding and a w ill to live

woman; her hair is short, natural;
she maintains that in times o f reces
sions as well as when there is a glow
ing economy, the human services
are needed. The peaks as well as the
lows o f the bell-shaped curve bring
an even greater demand for skilled
human services workers, she said.
"W hen the economy o f the coun
try prospers, human services
flourishes.”
According to Benjam in, PC C is
in the business o f offering relevant
services to the com m unity, and
those agencies that hire people who
may not have any training Tor help
ing people " . . . should require that
they get training."
She does not see any significant
changes (in the economy) for
another year, except, in the area o f
corrections. " A n d that will be done
out o f fear," she said.
The unstable economy and an un
predictable future underlines Tele-
tha Benjamin’s contentions, and the
thunderous roar seems to be: in

Stop the crying and dry your weeping eyes
The Exodus Clean Team w ill try desperately to keep your heads held high.
We believe and you should too
that life w ill go on in spite o f you.
When you realize when life gets rough, the rough gets tough
nd we re not talking about making a smoke screen, for that’s not enough.
Cleanliness o f body is fine, but with the mind it’s great
Tackle it with vigor, determination, but never try to deviate.
Nature is a never changing course
And our lives w ill not be beautiful i f we use force.
Make life a beautiful place to be
