There were over 100 children and parent* in attend ance. The children were treated to many gift* including fruit stockings and a visit from Santa Claus. The noise, confusion, and activities o f this holiday season make the anim al’s transition into a new household very difficult. Often young animals are given as presents to people who can’t provide for all their needs, or whose lifestyles are unsuitable to that particular animal Remember, animals are not toys— they are living beings w ith special needs. Christmas can be dangerous to all pets— old and new. The distinctive holiday season plants— mistletoe, holly, and poinsettia— are poison ous and should be placed where pets can’t chew on them. Electric wires and Christmas decorations are often tempting to pet* who like to chew, and pet owners must take precau tions to prevent a needless tragedy.
