The film has won numerous international awards including one at the Cannes Film Festival. Tracing the conditions that led to the revolution the film points out that popular resistance goes back at least to 1932. The film emphasizes the strength of the guerilla movement and explains the base o f this support. A 13-year-old whose father was killed by the National Guard takes his father's place in the struggle. In the last sequence a peasant woman waits at the edge of the jungle until a young guerrilla drops one of the cameras used to make the film into her laundry baskets. John R. Post Director, Engineering and Contracts The president o f the farm worker group that has sparked a nationwide boycott will speak in several Mid-Willamette Valley cities the first week of December. Balemar Velasquez, president of the Midwest-based Farm I abor Organ izing Committee, will visit Salem, Corvallis. Woodburn. Portland. Eugene, and Medford. The farm labor group is spearheading a boycott against Campbell's Soup Company, Pietro's Pizza Parlors, and Libby, according to David Papen o f the Oregon Farm Worker Support Committee. The boycott supports migrant farm workers who have been on strike since August 1978 against Ohio farms that grow tomatoes for canning by Campbell and Libby, Papen said. He said Ihe group is seeking a three-party contract signed by the union, canners and tomato farm owners. The two companies have declined to ne gotiate, saying the farms arc owned by independent business people who fully control the labor conditions on their land, he said. The farm worker group contends that negotiated contracts with several dozen growers in the late 1960s and early 1970s were sabotaged when the multinationals bought tomatoes from non-union farms or refused to pay growers enough to cover wages The boycott had attracted widespread support in Oregon, including en dorsements from more than a dozen labor and political groups.
