Racist violence has been steadily rising in Oregon. Recent examples in­
clude a cross-burning in M ilw a u k ie , vandalization o f a Salem synagogue
and harassment o f Black families in St. Helens and Eugene. We urge any­
one interested in the health and well-being o f our community to attend and
get involved. One dollar donation requested; childcare w ill be available.

KBO O, 90.7 F M in Portland. The Chinese program will air W ed ., Sept. 22,
8:30-9:30 om . It is one o f a series called “ Environm ents EastWest ” a
monthly radio presentation which features music, public affairs, and histori­
cal. cultural and community information from Portland’s Asian communi­
ties. The program is a function o f the Y M C A o f C olu m b ia -W illa m e tte ’ s
Refugee Project and K BO O Radio, and is produced by V IS T A volunteer
Lucinda Wong. ‘ ‘The people from each Asian com m unity should get the
credit for the programs,” Wong said. "Each one has their own music, their
own style; it’s coming from them .” In addition to the Chinese program, fu­
ture shows will be done by persons from Japanese. Lao, Vietnamese, Mien
and Filipino communities. The Japanese, Chinese and F ilip in o programs
are broadcast in English; the Lao. Vietnamese and Mien shows are done in
their native languages.
