Gaskin was bom in Jackson v ille , F lo rid a , and m oved to P o rt lan d in 1932. In 1964, she was the first graduate o f the P o rtlan d State U n iv e rs ity Sch o ol o f S o cial W o rk and she continued as a field instruct o r fo r the school until she retired in 1974. M rs . G a s k in was a m e m b e r o f The Links, In c ., the N ational Asso ciatio n o f Social W orkers, and was a G o ld L if e M e m b e r o f B e ta Psi C h a p te r o f D e lta Sigm a T h e ta So ro rity. She is survived by her h usband , H a ro ld : sons, G ra n t o f C a lifo r n ia and H a ro ld o f Portland; daughters, K a th le e n , o f N e w Y o r k C it y and Joyce o f P o rtlan d ; and her m o th er, Roberta Blackburn o f Po rtlan d.
