She had set a landmark by entering the sixth grade three years e a rlie r to become the fir s t B lack student in an enrollm ent o f almost 800 students. N ow 20 years la te r, she is the mother o f fo u r sons, an interviewers fo r the Housing A u th o rity o f P o rt la n d , and the n ew ly elected c o holder with her husband A rn o ld , o f the o ffic e o f president o f the H o ly Redeemer School Parents Club. The 73-year-old parochial school now has an e n ro llm e n t o f 415 stu dents, and numbers in its ranks 125 Black students, 150 n o n -C a th o lics and 20 Vietnamese youngsters. ‘ ‘ la m very pleased to be elected to the o ffic e a lo n g w ith m y hus band,” Mrs. Petri said, “ and we are lo o k in g fo rw a rd to d o in g some good th in g s w ith the o th e r new ly elected officers fo r the students and the other parents.” O th e r o ffic e rs elected to the clu b 's board are: M rs. A li Savage, 1st Vice-President; Jesse and Evelyn R u th e rfo rd , 2nd V ic e -P re s id e n t; Mrs. M arlyn W ood, Secretary; and W illiam and Betty Jones, Treasurer.
