Portland schools seek advisors Portland Public Schools seek per sons to fill 16 seats on two area citi zen advisory committees beginning next July 1 The Portland Board o f Education this week launched its annual appeal for nominations from individuals and local school advisory commit tees to fill five two-year adult vacan cies and from high school student councils to fill three one-year stu dent vacancies on each o f the 12- member panels. Persons have two options in seeking nom ination to an adult vacancy in the area they wish to represent: They may gather signa tures o f at least 30 adult residents of the area or seek nomination from a local school advisory committee in the area. C ertificates o f nom ination for adults may be obtained from local schools, area offices or the school d istrict’s Public Inform ation De- partment, 501 N. Dixon St. Adult applicants must be at least 18 years old, just reside in the area they wish to represent or must have a child attending a school within the area they wish to represent. Deadline for submission of nom inations for the student vacancies is 5 p.m., A pril 2. The deadline for sumbission o f the adult nomination petitions or local com m ittee nom inations is 5 p.m. A p ril 11. N om ination materials, including biographical inform ation, must be filed with the Public Inform ation Department. A five-member city-wide citizens revrew panel, appointed this month by the school board, w ill spend A p ril and May compiling a list o f qualified candidates from among the adult petitions and local com mittee nominations before making recommendations to the school board. BLUEBERRY CRUNCH COFFEE CAKE 8 to 10 servings 'A cup all-purpose flour '/« cup firm ly packed b row n sugar 'A cup firm butter 1 package (20 oz.) yellow pud ding-type cake mix 5 eggs 1 carton (8 oz.) plain yogurt 2 cups fres h or fro z e n (thaw ed) blueberries In small bowl combine flo u r, sugar and butter until crumbly. Set aside. In large mixing bowl, com bine cake mix, eggs and yogurt. Beat at medium speed for 3 minutes. Gently fold in berries. Pour into well-greased I3 X 9 X 2-inch pan. S prinkle top w ith but- te r/s u g a r/flo u r mixture. Bake in preheated 350“ F. oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until cake springs back when touched lightly with a finger. Cool about 10 minutes before ser ving.
