H opefully over the next ten years you’ ll start to make some effec tive changes. The people I meet while working for long term, lasting changes are wonderful. These people have en riched my life in so many ways. Each situation 1 have worked in is different, so I ’ve never done the same thing for 25 years in Portland. The situations may be similar or seem to be the same but the situation is usually different and I have to work with a different cast o f players. Even the answers in the end result are different which presents a new challenge." Newhall believes that the next decade in Portland is a very important one. She says developing integration for the 80’ s can be something this U.S. has never seen. The activist says now is not the time to lay back. She says it is the time for all people to be honest, open toward no person should never be shown. " I t ’ s not easy to solve problems where white racism or black racism is present. Both are bad because prejudice ju s t eats out the heart. Honesty, justice and compromise have always been three key issues involved in the struggle for civil rights. Once we come together to understand and trust each other, some lasting bridges can be formed." Taking a look at the 80’s Newhall says the Black United Front has had the support o f both whites and Blacks. She says this movement and contin uance o f voice w ill help bring about lasting changes for all people. Life Center meet with United Way. THE DRAPED BODICE: Full swinging skirt. They gave the country mobile discos, disco dancing lessons, a ll-disco ra d io stations, disco sit-corns, and even disco roller skating And now, disco fashion is hitting the scene and quickly gaining momen tum with the daring disco dress. Made to get that disco dude in the mood, the disco dress is feminine— often very sexy. Shoulders are com monly bare. Necklines are teasingly low . And disco dresses have a certain length which is called, o f course, disco length-somewhere between the ankle and knee. But don’t be fooled because those flirty skirts are full swinging and fre q u e n tly have slits up to there revealing lots o f leg and with the ad vent o f d ip p in g disco dancing— sometimes more.
