NATIVE AM E R IC A N FILMS A N D SPEAKERS: The A IM for Freedom
Defense Committee is presenting an evening o f Native American Films and
speakers, Saturday November 3, at Mallory Christian Church, 126 N.E. Alber­
ta. The films to be shown are: "T h e Longest W alk" a documentary o f the five
month walk across the United States by Indian people to call attention to treaty
violations and protest anti-Indian legislation; and "T he People are Dancing
Again” a film which tells the story o f the Siletz peoples struggle for federal
recognition and a land base. The event will take place at 7:00 p.m. and child­
care and refreshments w ill be available. Admission is $2.50

holiday seals sell for $1 per hundred.
The Zodiac children’ s contest will
feature a variety o f fund-raising
events puts on in the name o f the
child representing each of the twelve
signs o f the Zodiac. The child under
whose name the most funds are
raised by contest end will receive $25
w orth o f shares in the N A A C P
Credit Union.

A FREE HOME W EATHERIZATION CLINIC FOR SENIOR CITIZENS will
be held Thursday, November 15, at 3 pm at Ockley Green Community School,
1315 N. Ainsworth. Topics to be covered include: inexpensive do-it-yourself
heat saving projects such as plastic store windows, where to go for trustworthy
weatherization advice, sources o f weatherization help for seniors in the metro
area, samples o f inexpensive house weatherization products and how to get the
most out o f them. This clinic is being given free by weatherization expert Jim
Montgomery o f the Neil Kelly Company as a service to area senior citizens. Call

HOST FAMILIES ARE NEEDED for young people from Central America (12
to 16 years o f age) who are participating in the exchange program "Intercam -
bio.” The students live with an American family practising English, attending
school and learning our way o f life and culture. From Guatemala and El
Salvador, the students arrive November 15 and return home January 16. From
Costa Rica, the students arrive December 1 and return home February 12. (Call

On November 5, scripts will be available from 6:30 to 7:oo with the reading
from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.

to save money and do needed home repairs. A program planned specifically lor
the novice do-it-yourselfer w ill be held on November 7 at the Community

12:30 PM. The one-session class is titled, "E le ctrifyin g ldeas-A Ms. Fix-It
Program.”
STATE SENATOR TED KULONGOSKI, the candidate for the United States
Senate, w ill be featured at the November 8th meeting o f the East Multnomah
County Democratic Forum. The meeting w ill be held on Thursday, November
8th, at 7:30 p.m. at the Senior Center Auditorium , 50 N.E. Elliot in Gresham.
Senator Kulongoski w ill be introduced by his colleague state Senator Vern
