Br.azola Hecdick, well- known in the civic life on both sides of the Columbia River in Portland and in Vancouver, died Sunday, April 1st. in Vancouver after an ex tended illness. Memorial services were held Wed nesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Van couver where Mrs. Reddick, and the late Mr. Luther Reddick, had held membership for many years. Born December 17, 1917 in Alabama, Mrs. Reddick had been a Northwest resident for 36 years. She had been a teacher for four years, but also held a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University o f W ashington. Her long career in social work included one year as a Family Case worker at Volunteers of America in Portland and a year as a Medical Social worker at the U ni versity o f Oregon Medical School. Her longest service was spent as a Clinical Social worker at Barnes Vet erans Hospital in Vancouver where she was employed for 21 years. At Barnes Mrs. Reddick was involved with setting up a "team ” approach in rehabilitating the disabled by maintaining close contacts with their families to facilitate their treatment and their eventual return to their own homes. « HOUSE REMOVAL/DEMOLITION In 1904 Mrs. Reddick was named Vancouver’ s "W om an o f Accom plishment" by Vancouver’ s Business and Professional Women’ s Club for her "outstanding contributions to her community in the field of Race and Human Relations." Mrs. Reddick was a charter mem ber o f the Vancouver NAACP and had held each of the executive offices of that organization during the years of her active membership. She was a member o f the Altrusa Club in Van couver in which she also had held o f fice, and she was for many years an active member of the Portland Chap ter o f Links, Inc. Remaining family members are a son. John Reddick, a nephew, Lester Riley, both o f Vancouver; a niece. La Vonne Berrysmith o f Seattle; a brother, Joseph Turner o f Alabama; six sisters. Pearl Ellis and Alleen Riley both o f Chicago, Lela W illiams and Maude Wesley o f Tuskegee, Alabama, Naomi Waters o f New York City and Thelma Keene o f Baltimore, Maryland. Final arrangements were made by Vancouver Chapel. In lieu o f flowers, the fam ily has suggested that remembrances be made in Mrs. Reddick's name to the Vancouver NAACP or the American Cancer Society. Spirit Lake Campground, approximately 46 miles east of Castle Rock, Wash on State Highway 504 3. Services and Goods Required in the Permit. The successful bidder will be authorized under the permit to the exclusive right to sell firewood or other suitable fuel in the U.S.F.S. Spirit Lake Campground. The wood or fuel to be sold must be sufficiently dry to burn readily in the campground fireplaces installed in the campground by the Forest Service for public use. Firewood should be supplied in lengths of 16 24 inches and small enough diameters, etc. to be readily useable Species of wood may vary Prices charged for fuel wood or other materials sold under the :erms of this permit are subject to approval by the Forest Service 4. Special Conditions. The permittee may purchase wood from the Forest Ser vice in the Spirit Lake vicinity. The price will be approximately 50C per cord based on estimate of volume in the logs or trees designated at the time of sale. If the permittee desires he may establish a wood yard in an area to be designated by the Forest Service. Wood may be sold directly to Forest Users or on an honor system from unattend ed wood yards.
