“ I w ill continue to work with all

for all Americans — and for affirm a

opportunity.”
President Carter

The kitchens don’t have
disposals or dishwashers.
The roofs might leak a
little.
Some of the plumbing
isn’t what it ought to be.
But in today’s market it
would cost you a fortune to
duplicate some of the beau
tiful hardwood floors you
find here. Or the beveled
windows. Or the marble
fireplaces.
Still, this is a neighbor
hood that could be on its
way down. And we don’t
want it to decline because
of indifference.
Part of the problem, of
course, is money. Some
times people are skittish
about lending money on
property that seems on
the decline.
So it declines even more.

Portland. That’s right, we’re
the people who grant loans.
And sometimes refuse them.
Obviously, we have to run
our businesses wisely or
we’d soon be out of busi
ness. But we’re also citizens
of the Portland area and we
have a stake in the future of
all our neighborhoods.
If you have applied for a

us hear front you.
I Iere’s what will happen.
We will hear you out.
Review your case.

fails, well try to find another
lending institution that will
grant you the loan you need.
Well do what we can to
help.
We don’t promise miracles

to try.
Otherwise some pcrlcctly
good homes would be
forced into a tragic early
