A tto rn ey — fro m We are cognizant o f the fact that North America needs Afrika more than ever for A frika is huge and un derdeveloped, a market the United States recognizes. And in recognizing this, the U.S. should set up trade marches flying the banner o f good will, and that must assured by re garding the Black Folk here, as well as in the Mother Land. We realize the world's industrial future is closely tied to Afrika, espe cially that o f America’s. Afrika today is the world’s great est storehouse o f many commodities necessary to the West. Products such as gold, diamonds, bauxite, and ura nium. There are also abundances of tin, chrome, copper, titanium, moly- bendum, coal, and large quantities of oil. Afrika, the natural home o f cof fee, which grows wild in some re gions; cotton, tobacco, vanilla, peanuts, bananas, palm nuts, corn, cocoa, tea, copra, cloves, hard woods, and many other products. Afrika, our Mother Land, has en riched the New World and particu larly the United States, and to be more precise, what her people and descendents have so far done for America, is small in comparison to what we here and abroad are cap able of doing in the future, provided the true spirit o f humanity and cor diality leads in future relations. The future peace o f the world is going to depend largely on whether decent, democratic Americans are able to curb the racists who are, and have given A m erica such a bad name. I f America wishes to retain her present world position, she must eradicate her strategist for APAR T H E ID . The children o f A frika are not asleep. They are aware o f this mis leading in fo rm atio n about the P R U D E N T M A N ’S R U L E . This doesn’t give the people of America the right to further exploit the people o f Afrika, as she (America) has done in the past. How can the chief law enforcer ot the State of Oregon, justify his ac tions by shielding behind some Pru dent M an ’s theory when in fact the United Nations has steadfastly im plemented embargo solutions against this ill practice? Further, how can he carry out his obligation, serving the cross-section of people of this state with this tvpe o f attitude? The Prudent M an’s Rule states as follows: ORS 722.306. Keypunch operation classes begin February 12th, at Portland Com munity College and students can en ter the field of data processing after five weeks o f training in the key punch classes. “ Jobs are plentiful in the field of data processing,” says Pauline Ellis, keypunch instructor at PCC. “ Both full-time and part-time jobs are open in the keypunch or data entry areas.” The college offers both morning and afternoon classes, each requiring four hours o f classroom time a day, five days a week, for five weeks. Evening classes w ill begin again spring term, which starts in March. These classes run for eight weeks on Monday through Thursday evenings. Anyone wishing to enroll in the keypunch classes must be able to type 40 words per minute and pass an aptitude test given prior to the start of class. After completing their key punch training, students can work with the college’s job placement ser vice in obtaining job interviews.
