Jenkins, received V e rn o n in transfer
fro m Benson and here he played v a r­
sity tra c k , basketball and baseball.
T h a t was d u rin g the w eek.
O n weekends, V e rn o n kept at
o rg an iza tio n al things and he and his
teams began to be kn o w n as the
“ L o y a l C o m ra d e s .” A little fin a n ­
cial help came fro m a few local Black
businessmen to help w ith u nifo rm s
and eq u ip m ent. V e rn o n enlisted the
