Betty Jones plans family reunion
Betty Jones is making plans for a
fam ily reunion. And they’ ll be
coming from far places — Missouri,
Kentucky, perhaps Mississippi.
The nice thing is, Ms. Jones
doesn’ t have to worry about airfare,
hotel bills or miscellaneous expenses.
That’ s all taken care o f because she is
one o f the national winners in Mc
Donald’s "Salute to the American
Family.”
Each day for 28 days through July
16th, M cD onald's is m aking a
national award o f a “ Fam ily
Reunion for ten.” Ms. Jones was the
third such national winner.
Her prize consists o f round-trip
airfare for ten relatives or loved ones
from anywhere in the continental
U.S. at a date o f her choosing, hotel
accomodations, a cash stipend and a
fam ily reunion dinner at the N.
Lombard McDonald's in Portland,
where she made her winning entry.
Travel arrangements are being made
by United Airlines.

Try new catfish recipes
Some people enjoy spending a
leisure day catching their own cat
fish, while others would rather catch
them the easy way at the neigh
borhood fish market. Whatever the
method, now is a good time to try a
new recipe.
Saucy Broiled Catfish
2 dressed buffalo or other fish, fresh
or frozen
1 cup melted fat or oil
1/4 cup chopped parsley
2 tablespoons catsup
2 tablespoons wine vinegar
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
2 teaspoons basil
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Thaw frozen fish. Clean, wash,
and dry fish. Place in a single layer
in a shallow baking dish. Combine
remaining ingredients. Pour sauce
over fish and let stand fo r 30
minutes, turning once. Remove fish,
reserving sauce for basting. Place
fish on a well-greased broiler pan.
Brush with sauce. Broil about 3 in
ches from source o f heat, 5 to 7
minutes or until lightly browned,
basting twice. Turn carefully and
brush other side with sauce. Broil 5
to 7 minutes longer, basting oc
casionally, until fish is brown and
flakes easily when tested with a fork.

Commission, was still sorting out
who she w ill be inviting to her family
reunion.
On Sunday, July 16th, final day o f
the “ Salute to the American Family”
each M cD onald's in Oregon and
Southwest Washington w ill select its
own fam ily reunion winner from
among its own entries during the
promotion. Each o f these winners
w ill receive an award similar to Ms.
Jones' except that it w ill be for two,
rather than ten, family members.
W ith nearly forty McDonald's in
Oregon and Southwest Washington,
it appears that a lo t o f fa m ily
reunioning w ill be going on in these
parts in the next few months.
