SMITH BAND I f there's a world that I can associate w ith Gregg Smith's it* < Tve been fallowing Gregg's Band far a couple of years now in and around Portland, I< truthfully say. he never stops creating and innovating his act. He's one of those musicians that insist on everything being right! Which is one of the reason's he's been so successful down through the years. He's currently appearing at the Tourquobe Room in Southwest Portland. His sound is prim arily Disco, but he eaa just as easily belt out a ballad or a jaxz selection for your musical pleasure. Hood CC features Vocal Jazz Festival A "little bit of soul" w ill be introduced into the Gresham area by the Tenth Annual N orthw est Vocal Jaxx Festival at M t. Hood Community College. Saturday. M ay 21. The festival, which w ill indude p a rtk i pants from high schools in Oregon. Washington. California and Idaho, begins with prelim inary rounds at 8:00 Saturday. M ore than 130 schools are entered in five divisions of competition w h k h split the schools according to sue. A special division for tinging groups featuring all male or all female singers w ill be included. Trophies w ill be awarded to sehoob finishing first, second and th ird in th eir divisions.
