Grout school honors Dr. King
by I'tvoaea Marshall
“Many people have dreams We are
around to make these dreams happen".
Forrest Jenkins said of the recent dedi
cation to Dr. Martin Luther King given at
Grout Elementary School by Star Pro
duct ions The performance was so w ell
done and emotional that there were tears
in the eyes of some of the performers and
audience.
The basic message that the perform
ance conveyed was, "Let every man be
your brother " There was a feeling of
brotherhood apparent during the
assembly.
Forrest Jenkins, president of Star
Productions was the narrator and did a
heart warming presentation of King's “I
Have A Dream" speech. Members of the
“Unity Gospel Singers,“ Gypsy Hopkins,
Mary Davis, Gayle King. Brenda Phillips,
and pianist Karen Phillips had the rare
ability to really touch their audience's
heart, while conveying pain, joy, and love
in their songs.
Jenkins wanted his audience to under
stand: “i f we are to exist as a people, we
must have the ability to communicate and
reason with one another for a peaceful co
existence.....We must learn at a young
age that prejudice is a cancer."
