later than five <5> days after bids are received.
6. FORFEITURE OF DEPOSITS
Plan holders whv do not submit a bona fide prime bid and who do not return the
documents unmarkea and in good condition at least five (5) days prior to the bid
opening, will forfeit the full amount of th e ir deposits.
There will be no refunds for additional sets or parts of sets.
7. All bidders must comply with the provisions of Chapter 279, Oregon Revised
Statutes relating to the qualifications of bidders. The bidders prequalification
statement whall be prepared and presented on the “Contractor's Prequalification
Application” to the Housing Authority of Portland as required by ORS 279.
8. B ID G U A R A N TE E
A certified check, cashier's check, or bid bond equal to ten percent of the Base Bid
plus additive alternatives is required with each bid.
Make payable to the Housing Authority of Portland.
Bid Bond shall be issued by a bonding company licensed to do business in Oregon
and shall be w ritten on the enclosed form.
Bid guarantee shall be forfeited as fixed and liquidated damages should the bidder
neglect or refuse to enter into a contract and provide a suitable bond for the faithful
performance of the work in the event the contract is awarded to him.
9. M IN IM U M W A G ES
Attention is called to the fact that not less than the minimum salaries and wages as
set forth in the Contract Documents must be paid on the Project, and that the
Contractor must ensure that employees and applicants for employment are not
discriminated against because of their rac«.-, color, sex, religion or national origin and
that the Contractor must comply with Federal regulations pertaining to the
employment of apprentices and trainees as set forth in the Contract Documents.
10. RIGHT TO R E J E C T BIDS
The rights are hereby reserved to reject any or all bids; to waive any irregularities
in the bids submitted; to accept the bid which is in the best interest of the Housing
Authority of Portland.
11. CONTRACT A W A R D
A contract will be awarded or bids rejected within sixty (60) days after the bids are
opened.
Willie Butler. Jr. of 4143 N. Kerby
Avenue, died on March 5th at the
Veteran's Hospital at the age of 61.
Butler was born in Ethel, Arkansas and
has been a resident of Portland for 31
years.
Surviving relatives are: his wife. Annie
Kay Butler; his step-mother, Dorothv
Bell Butler; five brothers: Adell. James.
Wilbert, Glen and John; seven sisters:
Del Smith, Bertha Poston, Mary Brooks,
Alvina Parker, Ola Streets, Irma Ed­
wards, and Dorothy Bannerman, and 57
nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be
contributions to the University of Oregon
Health Science Center Sickle Cell Anemia
Research Project, under D r. Koler, or
their favorite charity.
Funeral services were held March 10th
at Caldwells Mortuary, Reverend B.E.
Johnson officating. Burial was at W il­
lamette National Cemetery.
