Vice President and Branch Manager. Before joining First Slate last July. Sanders was assistant manager in loans at the County Trust Company in White Plains. New York. He attended Shaw University and took several American Institute of Banking courses. He has »erved as a representative for United Wav and also was a member of the Lions Club. In his free time Sanders enjoys base ball, track, football and basketball. C Don Vann, owner and operator of Vann's Funeral Chapel in Portland, was elcted President of the Board. He succeeds William C. Harris, Jr.. who will continue to serve as a member. Forrest Andreason. Manager of the McGaffev Andreason Funeral Chapel in Eugene, was elected Vice I’resident and Gary Buell, owner-operator of the Buell Chapel in Springfield, will serve as Secretary Treasurer. B.Douglas Pratt, owner of Pratt's Mortuary Service, Portland, is the re maining member of the Board. The thirteen members of the Advisory Coun cil include librarians, trustees, and repre u-m »tives of the library-using public Ms. Hays is manager of the Oregon [>partment of Human Resources' Multi Service Center. The Advisory Council is responsible for planning for the develop ment of library service throughout the State of Oregon. It also evaluates all requests for federal public library fund grants and recommends applications for funding. Contractors meet Minority contractors who met last .eek reported that their 197b business Hume was good. One contractor grossed .early 1.5 million dollars and netted .early $400.000 according to Dr. Thomas Boothe of Contractors Mar.agemeni As sociation. The contractors meeting was sponsor ed by the Metropolitan Economic Iievel opment Corporation. Dr. Boothe, speaking to the meeting, cited the major difficulties which minor ity contractors had in the past was an ¡mage nf poor quality workmanship, scheduling, lack of financing, bonding and internal management controls. Dr. Boothe said he solved many of these problems during 1976 for those minority entrepreneurs who were willing to perform quality work in a professional manner.
