JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
The Portland Metropolitan Steering Committee is now
aeeking'applicants for the position of Neighborhood Youth
Development Program Coordinator.
MAJOR EMPLOYEE BENEFITS
The Agency pays premium for s group life insursnce policy.
Partial payment of health insurance for employee. Ten
holidays per year. Fifteen days sick leave per year. Fifteen
days vacation pay for the first year. Twenty days vacation
pay after two years.
HOURS OF WORK
The normal work week consists of forty hours. Because of
the nature of the Community Action Program, emergencies
may occasionally arise which require overtime work. Pro
fessional employees do not receive pay for work performed in
excess of forty hours, but may take scheduled compensatory
time off It is considered a part of the professional staffs
responsibility to work over the normal forty hours per week
when needed.

salaries are studied each year by the Career Development
and Personnel Specialist in order to insure that they are
comparable to salaries in the Portland Metropolitan area
qualifications
Applicant should have some knowledge of youth programs
operating in Portland.

experience in proposal preparation. Applicant must have
good writing and speaking abilities. Applicant must have the
ability to interpret and follow complex governmental

JOB TITLE: Youth Programs Coordinator.
FUNDAMENTAL OBJECTIVE: To provide leadership,
guidance, and supervision for the Youth Development
Program Field Representative and all the Youth Develop­
ment Program Field project directors.
REPORTS TO: Director for Community Programs.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Youth Development
Program Field Representative and all centrally administered
field project directors.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIES: To design, coordinate,
and supervise all personnel and activities related directly to
the Youth Development Program, and to be responsible for
its continuity and operation.
To prepare, with the City-Wide Youth Council and Youth
Development Program staff, program proposals to be
submitted to the PMSC Board of Directors.
To establish and implement a system which will provide
field projects and Youth Development Program staff with the
supportive services they need in order to carry out their own
individual project tasks adequately.
To introduce all new Youth Development Program staff to
the Portland Metropolitan Steering Committee and to
provide them with specific training regarding agency
requirements, reporting system s, etc.
To continually update the Youth Development Program
Handbook.
To stay abreast of the training needs of all Youth
Development Program staff and project directors and to
provide that training whenever feasible.
To monitor and evaluate all field projects in areas of
qualitative, quantative, and fiscal performance.
To compose and submit a weekly status report to the
Director of Community Programs detailing current, planned,
and completed projects for the total Youth Development
Program.
To develop a workable linkage between all agencies and
institutions in the Metropolitan area engaged in youth
services.
To be active in areas of proposal-writing and efforts to
secure additional funding for the Youth Development
Program.
To provide interpretation of the CSA guidelines for the
City-Wide Youth Council and Youth Development Program
staff.
Set up additional policies and procedures or modifications
of work programs as needed and to provide technical and
advisory assistance to the Youth Development Program staff
and City-Wide Youth Council members.
To attend PMSC Board meetings, the Manpower and
Finance Subcommittee meetings as necessary or when
requested to present Youth Development Program proposals,
budgets, or amendments.
LIMITS OF AUTHORITY: To perform all duties within the
limits of CSA, HEW, PMSC Policies and Procedures, and
within the limits of city, county, state, and federal laws.
