Walker and Mrs Mary Jean Berry, was held at Portland Community Cascade College Student Union on December 23. iv ra Over 250 children from all ages were entertained by various d rill teams from John Adams High School, gym nasties from M artin Luther King Elementary School, and students from Adams High School. A childrens' fashion show sponsored by students from the Albina community am) novelty acts performed by m agician Jack H a rris were also presented. The annual event, which was orgaiLiA'd with less than two days notice, was termed a "success" by Mrs. Berry. “ I think it was such a sweet spirit these kids coming to g e th e r to h e lp o u t th e younger members of the community. People were working day and night to see that this production would lie a success. Many of these actions I've never seen be fore,"' Mrs. B ern said. She went on to say that without the help of Daul Newman and lamia Harnbuckle the annual Christmas parly might not have been as successful as it was. They just came up to me and said. The course was structured to g iv e us a good w o rk in g knowledge of what makes a car go. some symptoms that warn of an impending failure, how to maintain the vehicle and how to tell when certain repairs are necessary Basically, we learned what makes a car tick, or more im portantly. stop ticking Not only did we learn a lot. we had fun too I'd recommend a course like this to any woman. Women on wheels have come a long way since Genevra Delpine Mudge became the first woman driver in New York in 1898. piloting an electric car.
