Portland Community Col lege offers help this year: A short course in Holiday Bak ing to be held at Jefferson High School, 5210 N. Kerby Avenue. Holiday breads, cookies, candy and poultry are on the class agenda, all marvelous for entertaining or for giving. Instructor Linda Walker will conduct this five-week lecture demonstration course, with some class participation, in room A8 from 7:00 to 10:00 on Tuesday evenings, beginning October 30. Functions of the Aviation Maintenance Technology de partment of Portland Com munity C ollege will be demonstrated at Beaverton's Bernard Mall October 25 through 28. Included will be a Bell Helicopter, one of nine owned by the school and used for maintenance instruction, and a piper J-4 airplane, pri vately owned. In addition, a “toy” air plane, 15 feet long, with a wing span of 17 feet, will be seen. This “toy" does not fly but is a composite of all types of aircraft construction with which airframe main tenance people must become acquainted. Pictorial displays of other departm ents of Portland Community College will com plete the display, and counse lors and instructions will bt on hand to give further in formation. The 35 true stories of Ore gon from the covered wagon to trolley car era were se lected from personal exper iences of the writers' pioneer families or from research. Roger Cooke. Portland artist, is the illustrator. Publication of the book, a collector’s item, has been made possible by a private agent.
