The scholarship will pay full cam p fees, and was originated to honor the YWCA vo lu n teer service which Mrs. B endshadler gave to th e N o rth east C om m unity R ela tions C om m ittee and Religious E m phasis C om m ittee. YWCA awards campship A n n ette W ashington re ceived the Alice B endshadler Scholarship to a tte n d W est wind on th e Pacific this sum m er according to an a n nouncem ent by th e N o rth e a s t YW CA C o m m u n ity R elations C om m ittee. Ms. W ashington, 16 y ears old, lives at 3624 N. Albina. She is active in th e YWCA as a Y-Teen m em ber, and also graduated from a M er c h a n d is e In -T r a in in g C la ss presented by th e YWCA. S ta rtin g in S ep tem b er, she plans to organize cooking and m odeling in te re st g roups for 7th and 8th g rad ers a t Boise School. She will be a t tending cam p from Ju ly 27 to A ugust 3. This is the first tim e th e scholarship, in honor of Alice B e n d s h a d le r , h a s b e e n aw arded. Ms. B endshadler w as an active YWCA volun te e r serving on th e Religious E m p h a s is C o m m itte e an d N ortheast Com m unity R ela tions Com m ittee. W hen she re tire d from co m m ittee work in Jan u a ry 1973, th e com m ittees o rig in ated this scho larship in h e r name. The scholarship pay s full camp fees for one n o rth e a st area girl annually. Ten o th er girls a re a t tending W estw ind from the N o rth east YW’CA. W estw ind is th e YWCA youth camp, located a t th e m outh of th e Salm on R iver on th e edge of th e Pacific Ocean. T he girls will p a rti cipate in activ ities including dram a, crafts, a rt, sp o rts and cook-outs.
