You w ill often find in re
bounding that being tall does
not n ecessarily mean you w ill
get a ll the rebounds. Some of
the best rebounders in bas

have been " s h o r t"
men such as Wes Unseld,
C het W a lk e r and B ill B rid g es.
It is v e ry im portant to con

when rebounding.
T r y and watch the shooter so
you have some idea where the
ball is going.
Often the most im portant
phase of rebounding is getting
good position.
I f you place
you rself between the basket
and the opponent, you a re
m o te lik e ly to grab the re
bound.
T r y and block out
the opponent to keep him fro m
getting the b all.
I t is good to think aggres
sively when r e b o u n d i n g .
Avoid slapping at the ball;
try and g rab the ball cleanly
although if you a re In position
you should try and tip in re
bounds If possible.
T r y and be active under
the boards and try and know
w here the ball is and where
the opponent is at all tim e s .
